Jaguar is going full throttle into Gran Turismo 7—the latest, most immersive version yet of the global smash-hit racing game developed by Polyphony Digital and distributed by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Jaguar recently unveiled its third all-electric gaming sports car—the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster. This isn’t a first for Jaguar, of course. Jaguar previously launched the Jaguar Vision Gran Tourism Coupe and the extreme Vision Gran Turismo SV endurance racer.
The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster is an all-electric single-seater which combines the Coupe’s powertrain with a sculpted form inspired by the iconic, timeless Jaguar D-type. Jaguar’s design team has also developed custom livery for both vehicles. The specially-developed black and grey paints and subtle graphics highlight the race cars’ dramatic, beautiful designs and are unique to the vehicles’ in-game liveries.
The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster
The Roadster is designed to bring gamers the pure, visceral driving experience of an open-cockpit Jaguar sports car powered by three electric motors generating a total power output of more than 1,020PS (750kW) and instant, maximum torque of 1,200Nm. The Roadster accelerates from 0-60 mph in under two seconds and delivers a maximum speed in excess of 200mph.
The Roadster’s light body is crafted from carbon-fibre composites and advanced aluminum alloys. A state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery pack is packaged as low down in the structure as possible, contributing to the low center of gravity, low roll center and near 50:50 weight distribution that are fundamental to the car’s outstanding driving dynamics.
The Roadster features a swept-back aero screen directly in front of the driver. The aerodynamically optimized rear fin is inspired by the tail on the three-time Le Mans-winning D-type. A Union Jack, subtly illuminated by LEDs, is etched into the fin itself. The theme continues with the hand-crafted leather straps on the front fenders and iconic roundel lights in the front grille.
The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster’s interior combines lightweight, luxurious materials and finishes with intricate details. The all-around visibility over the long bonnet immerses gamers in the racing experience.
